I have been providing counseling in a variety of psychiatric settings since 1990.  I enjoy working with individuals of all ages struggling in relationships, suffering from depression or anxiety of any kind, as well as complicated bereavement.  My passion has been learning and using models of therapy for working more effectively with couples. I am a certified educator for Gottman's Seven Principles for Marriage.  I have also been trained in Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT) for Couples in Chicago and Washington DC in addition to Relational Life Therapy (RLT) out of Boston.  My work is informed by the training I have received from cutting edge leaders in couples therapy such as Sue Johnson, Terry Real and certified sex therapists Marty Klein, Esther Perrel, and Tammy Nelson.  Be sure anyone you receive couples counseling from has specialized training in working with couples following their graduate studies in order to get the help you deserve.

My professional background includes extensive work in emergency services and crisis intervention, and I have expertise in suicide risk assessment.  I worked for many years as a clinical therapist at Berkshire Medical Center in their psychiatric units and in their emergency room.

I have provided training to other mental health professionals funded by the Department of Mental Health, including training staff in public schools and hospitals through the Suicide Prevention Grant Project.

I enjoy using mindfulness, meditation, stress management and anxiety reduction techniques. I employ cognitive-behavioral strategies, acceptance and commitment therapy and other techniques to help clients build on their existing strengths. I support clients toward developing additional skills to empower themselves through difficult times. I have observed therapy to be an invaluable tool that can help to guide us along our path. It is a resource to assist in building the life we choose and design for ourselves, especially when facing challenges and obstacles.

Through the past decades of my work, I have enjoyed working with children, adolescents, and adults of all ages in a variety of settings and situations. I've worked in homeless shelters, schools, hospitals—Mass General Hospital’s oncology department and in psychiatry at Berkshire Medical Center.  I've worked with people who have experienced trauma, with individuals and families who are trying to find balance and cohesion in relationships in their lives. I’ve encouraged people who are making major life transitions and are questioning their decisions. I have assisted those struggling with stress, anxiety and depression that impedes their daily lives.  I’ve supported people who are grieving the end of a relationship or the death of a loved one, and with those who feel lost, alone, or misunderstood.

It is my mission to support you in hearing and using your own voice to identify the life plan you have for yourself. Together we will explore the challenges that stand in your way and recognize the strengths you already possess. I will collaborate with you to design your map for your journey toward your future. With the variety and richness of experience I will bring into our work together, we will have plenty of resources and tools to assist you in striving toward your goals.

I feel honored each time I am given the opportunity to accompany someone on their way to a more balanced, vibrant, and joyful life.  I aim to create a sense of safety and connection in every therapy session to increase the possibility for transformation.

My work is informed by cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), positive psychology, and various mindfulness and body-based practices.

I also draw deeply on Internal Family Systems Therapy (IFS), an evidenced-based therapeutic model that works to connect individuals to their deepest “Self”: the calm, centered, connected core that is the healing force present in each of us.

I enjoy working with adults in addressing a wide range of challenges including anxiety, depression, trauma symptoms, shame, low self-esteem, parenting, grief/loss, relationship issues, and chronic health conditions.  I am also familiar with the needs of those who have the trait of high sensitivity.

Pain and struggle are part of life. Sometimes they can feel overwhelming and endless.  My many years of personal and professional growth have taught me that deep and lasting change is indeed possible.  Sometimes it’s helpful to have a trusted guide along the way.  My approach is heart-centered, strength-based, and collaborative.  Together we will explore the nature of your current challenges with curiosity and compassion.

I am currently in supervision as I work towards completing independent licensure requirements.

Wellness and quality of life are what I strive for in my practice.  Many years of working as an early childhood clinician has enhanced the practice of providing excellent psychotherapy services to young children, teens, young adults and parents.  The knowledge I've gained from working as a primary care counselor at the McGee Unit Detox Center and as a clinical director at an addiction campus has increased my ability to help with substance abuse issues.  The 15 plus years working as a medical social worker at Berkshire Medical Center has given me the opportunity to work with various mental health and substance abuse conditions, as well as with patients who have co-morbid conditions such as cancer and diabetes.  Grief work and counseling families through divorce and custody concerns are other areas of psychotherapy that I also provide.

Insurances Accepted:  In addition to private pay on a sliding fee scale, I accept Blue Cross Blue Shield, e-4 Health, Health New England, Tufts, as well as some other insurances.  Private pay $50.

I have been a Registered Dietitian for more than 30 years. What I love most about my work is the opportunity to partner with my clients and enable them to reach their personal health and wellness goals through achievable and sustainable lifestyle strategies. I do my best to make each session interactive as success increases when clients get to play an active role in creating their wellness plan. Health and nutrition is so much more than simply counting calories. Paying attention to food quality, meal timing, setting up an environment to support making the right choices, mindfulness and exercise are also critical factors to success.

More than 25 years of my work as a dietitian has been devoted to worksite wellness/health in both nutrition and fitness.  I have worked with employees from more than thirty sites in Berkshire County and have enjoyed helping clients through a wide variety of activities including: individual nutrition counseling, creating health challenges, running weight loss programs, leading supermarket tours, developing heart rate based training programs and creating nutrition workshops.

One of my most rewarding experiences through Wellness was becoming a certified Canyon Ranch Institute Life Enhancement Program Leader.  I have also been a Master Instructor for the SPINNING®program with Mad Dogg Athletics, Inc. since January of 1998.  The job has connected me with literally thousands of instructors and students who have transformed their health and lives through nutrition and exercise.  I have also presented nutrition courses, rides and workshops at a total of 16 internationally attended SPINNING®conferences, better known as WSSC.

I became a Wellcoaches® Certified Health and Wellness Coach in December of 2015. I have been a Certified Lactation Counselor since October of 2003.  I also earned certificates through the Commission on Dietetic Registration on Adult Weight Management and Pediatric and Adolescent Weight Management.
